Welcome to the rocking horse works, a family run business
with traditional values in creating beautiful Victorian style rocking horses
and restoring old ones.
We have been producing fine hand carved rocking horses for
decades bringing joy to homes all over the world.
It all began in 1984 when a friend , knowing that Steve was
a skilled wood worker asked if we could carve a rocking horse for his daughter.
The horse was adored by the family and admired by many
others leading to further requests and thus The Rocking Horse Works was
founded.
Alison and Steve proceeded to carve more rocking horses
aboard Heather Bell, the traditional Wooden Narrow boat they lived on, a sight
that soon captured the interest of many including the local press.
Over 30 years later we maintain the same high standards of
craftsmanship and treat each and every horse with as much care as we did the
very first.
Over the years we have met with many quality suppliers and
we now have an excellent source of only the finest materials from our leather
to our swing irons.
We aim to keep the tradition of the Victorians alive using
only traditional methods to produce our
rocking horses.
